Number 3!

The most exciting news of this past month is the soon to be new addition to our family. We are expecting number 3 in April. April Fools Day to be exact! Joel asked the doctor if we could check to see if there was actually a baby in my stomach. We all had a good laugh! Elisa and Joshua are very excited about the new baby and I know they will be lots of help.

We found a hospital that is close to our house and Hope Church so we are looking forward to sharing many interesting cultural notes regarding the experience.

Passion Tokyo

The Passion World Tour stopped in Tokyo this past week for a one day conference featuring Chris Tomlin, Matt Redmond, David Crowder Band and Louie Giglio. Friends of ours from Osaka brought their youth group up for the conference. It was an awesome time of worship and sharing. Louie Giglio’s message was simple but so powerful! Many people waited in line for several hours to get inside the 2,000 seat concert hall and even after the concert started there will still people hoping to get in. Afterwards the Kaylor family made their way backstage to greet the performers which was a special treat!

Trip to South Korea

Joel was asked to be part of a 10 day prayer journey throughout South Korea during the end of September. He and approximately 30 other team members from Japan spent their time traveling from city to city, praying over government buildings and holding nightly meetings in many churches through South Korea. Joel enjoyed eating all the great Korean food and seeing the sights but more than anything he came away with a real desire to see the young people of South Korea touched by the gospel. There are many churches in South Korea but very few of them are filled with young people. We want to be a part of changing the younger generation here in Japan and in South Korea.

Night of Music at Starbucks

Ayumi, one of the Hope Church youth leaders, works at a nearby Starbucks. She was able to seize a golden opportunity to have the Hope Church youth band play for an hour inside Starbucks for Starbucks 10^th Anniversary. They had a great time singing worship songs and visiting with customers who came in.

Osaka

We are currently looking into housing availability in a few residential neighborhoods in Osaka. We are praying for God to provide us with a house that will meet all our needs and that of our growing familyJ God has provided us with such a perfect house here in Tokyo and we know that He will do the same for us in Osaka.

Cultural Notes

In Japan, it is all about standing in lines. I am told that many years ago it was not this way. There was usually just a huge crowd with people pushing and shoving. Nowdays there are lines for the bank, parking lot, supermarket, school, trains, restaurants and of course, Krispy Kreme. So I was not surprised when we encountered a line at the hospital during my first visit. What was surprising was how many lines there were. We waited in line to check in, then sat in the waiting area waiting for our number to be called. While waiting for the number to be called I waited in line to weigh myself and check my blood pressure. Next we waited in another line for the ultrasound, followed by another line to see the doctor. At the end of our visit we waited again to pay our bill. This may seem like a lot of waiting (and it was) but at least you felt like you were moving somewhere constantly even if it was only from one room to the next. The whole experience took about 2 hours. I will know next time to bring a book!

Elisa

Hey! Elisa here!!! OK, here is some great news. MY MOM IS PREGNANT!!!!!!!!! I am so excited that I am going to have another brother or sister. I want a sister really bad!!!!

This month I want to Passion Tokyo. It was so fun. It started at 5pm and ended at 9pm.

Afterwards we couldn’t find the car. Then the car battery died but somebody had jumper cables and since there was no traffic, we got home in 20 min. Normally it would have taken 1 hour but there was no traffic so we got home really quick. I also had a great month going to school!

Joshua

Hi Everyone! Did you know that I have a new lizard? Right next to our house we have a lot of grass and I found him next to our wall. I also have a new crawdad. He is really big. He is red and kind of like a lobster but smaller.

My school had a bazaar on Saturday. It was fun. I painted my face, caught balls, ate cotton candy, and played baseball. We ate curry and yakisoba for lunch and then we left.
